The U.S. wind energy industry is expanding as established industry leaders maintain their top position and manufacturing continues to grow albeit at a slower rate than in 2008, according to the annual wind industry market report released by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

May 2010: USDA guarantees $80M loan to biorefinery
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that Range Fuels, Inc., a Colorado-based firm with a planned biorefinery located near Soperton, Georgia, is the recipient of a loan guaranteed by USDA Rural Development to make cellulosic biofuel from wood chips.
The Missouri Senate has given initial approval to a bill allowing methane gas produced by animal waste to count toward the state's renewable energy mandate for electricity providers.
