Global photovoltaic cell production grew in 2009 by 51 percent, from 7.1 gigawatts (GW) in 2008 to 10.7 GW in 2009, according to a research note published by GTM Research. PV panel production also increased by 41 percent over 2008 to 8.9 GW.
